I’m working on something new…

It’s been a while! I wanted to cover what I’ve been up to and share the next steps for my game development goals.

Raven is complete

I finished Raven, and I've put out a few small updates. Since then, I've moved on to new projects, and plan to take what I learned from Raven to continue making games.

My goals

I'm excited to get another game out. 90% of game studios only ever release a single game before closing up shop. So in my eyes, my largest obstacle at the moment is beating those odds.

Goal 1: release a game (again).

I want to release this second game much faster. Raven took me 2 years to make. From start to release, I'd like to have this one out in 6 months. Ideally, that means making the core game in 4 months, then continuing testing and marketing for another 2.

Raven didn't just teach me about making a game, but also how to release it. I hit a couple of bumps throughout the release, but I plan to do a separate post reflecting on those.
Goal 2: release faster and smarter.

I plan to continue making games for a while. My long-term goal has two parts: Make story-driven games, and get them on consoles. To work towards this, I've been teaching myself Unreal Engine 5. I'‘m going to experiment using Unreal for exploring game genres and demoing future titles.

Goal 3: Explore new tools and genres

My next game

I’ve worked on several game ideas in the 2 years since Raven. For a number of reasons I didn’t stick with them, but I am determined to finish my current one.

I’m very eager to share this next project. I’ll announce something official soon, once it’s clean enough to show.

Thanks, and stay tuned!
